The rewards of agroecological farming in KwaZulu-Natal
Biowatch South Africa is an environmental justice NGO and have recently published a book, Stories of resilience built through agroecology. Biowatch farmers speak out about living and thriving in troubled times: 2020-2022, which is available on their website.
The book records the agroecological practices of smallholder and family farmers in KwaZulu-Natal amidst the challenge of the Covid-19 pandemic, and how these methods supported their livelihoods and food security. It also captures the community spirit and independence fostered through the sharing of seeds and selling of crops within communities.
